BLACK HISTORY What inspired me to write this poems starting with SLAVERY is simple, my son is of African origin and I started asking my Mother in law where they came from and she said: ”Ivory Coast”, from there they brought us to the Dutch Colony which is Suriname, our name Weigle is a Swiss name there was a Swiss Monastery. Then we moved to America and inspiration hit me again when I visited South Carolina and I wrote the first poem of this book, “The South”. AFRICAN AMERICAN EXPERIENCE ON LOUISIANA CANE RIVER PLANTATIONS FROM SLAVERY TO SHARECROPPING & BEYOND BASED ON THE AUTHOR'S LIFE EXPERIENCE Elvin L. Shields received the Louisiana Tradition Bearer award in October 2021 for his works in historical cultural preservation. In July 2022 Natchitoches Northwestern State University Folk Life Center inducted Elvin into the Hall of Master Folk Artists for his twisted wire sculptures of plantation life images.

The title of this book is Ancestors and Descendants Two, More Genealogy and Stories of Families from the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is a continuation of information first presented in the book entitled Ancestors and Descendants, Genealogy and stories of families from the U.S. Virgin Islands. In this book some information from the first book may be repeated with updates added. Lots of new information will be presented, along with more pictures. Additional extended families have been identified and some of their information presented. Some of the names of families mentioned in the book are: Daniel, Drummond, Millin, de Jongh, LaFrank, Wallace, Roberts, Reese, Carty, and Smith.

Siphiwe Baleka, concerned with the lost history of his family because of the criminal European and American Trade in African people and their enslavement, uses DNA testing and a lot of research to reconstruct the history of the Balanta people all the way back to their origin in Ta-Nihisi, Nubia (Sudan), in prehistoric times. Volume I covers that history up until their exodus during the Egyptian XVIII Dynasty (1479-1429 BC). The book is presented as a letter to his sons, so that they will know the full dignity of their ancestral heritage. In Balanta B’urassa, My Sons: Those Who Resist Remain Volume I, we established the following facts: 1. Our paternal ancestors are the Balanta who live in present-day Guinea Bissau on the West Coast of Africa. 2. Our ancestors share a common lineage with Bantu and Nilo-Saharan people of North East Africa. 3. More specifically, our ancestors lived in Ta-Nihisi, Nubia. Today, that area is called Sudan. 4. Between 18,000 BC and 332 BC, Balanta ancestors made numerous migrations from Ta-Nihisi and Ta-Meri to West Africa.
